A cardiologist specializes in finding, preventing and treating diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular diseases). These diseases include Heart attack, Heart failure, High blood pressure, Arrhythmias (abnormalities of heart rhythm), Heart valve problems and Infections of the heart.
The cardiologist may Perform a physical examination, order tests like blood tests, electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise stress test or imaging studies of the heart. The cardiologist will interpret test results to diagnose a medical condition a patient may have, prescribe treatment for a patient’s health conditions and advise lifestyle changes, such as modifications in diet, maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress and regular physical activity.
Cardiologists will also perform some procedures like cardiac catheterization or implant a pacemaker or refer you to a heart surgeon or an interventional cardiologist when necessary.
Cardiology specialists from Pioneer Heart Institute are available at the OGH Outreach clinic every other Thursday. They are able to perform cardiac echoes, stress tests, Nuclear Medicine test and cardioversion right here at OGH.
A pulmonologist diagnoses and treats conditions that affect the respiratory system. Pulmonologists treat everything from asthma to tuberculosis. They have expertise in the following types of respiratory disorders: infectious, structural, inflammatory, neoplastic and autoimmune. In some instances, their expertise extends to the cardiovascular system. Certain conditions, such as pulmonary vascular disease, can first affect the respiratory system but go on to affect other areas of the body.
Pulmonology services are available the first Tuesday of every month to provide diagnosis and treatment for pulmonary diseases and disorders, including but not limited to, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis/COPD, lung tumors and cancer, lung infections and pneumonia, various interstitial lung diseases, such as Farmer’s Lung and pulmonary hypertension.
A urologist is a doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the urinary system. This system keeps the body clean by filtering out wastes and toxins and taking them out of the body. The urinary tract includes bladder, kidneys, ureters, urethra.
Urologists treat common conditions and rarer illnesses that affect everyone and some that affect only men or only women. Some of these conditions include:
- Frequent urinary tract infections.
- Inability to control urination (urinary incontinence).
- Blood in the urine (hematuria).
- Conditions of the male reproductive system, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH, or enlarged prostate).

The OGH Wound Care Clinic is a specialized outpatient wound care treatment center dedicated to the care of patients with wounds.
Wounds that are hard-to-heal or non-healing may be a result of pressure, trauma or infection. Sometimes, the simplest of wounds can turn into a significant problem due to underlying conditions, including diabetes, circulation problems or previous radiation treatment. These wounds can have serious health consequences and may adversely affect your quality of life.
